Paws for Petunia was born from the deepest corners of our hearts, created in honor of our sweet girl, Petunia. If you followed her journey on Instagram, @petu_the_pit, then you already know—she was something truly special.
Petunia didn’t just come into our lives—she transformed them. She taught us the purest kind of love, the kind that asks for nothing and gives everything. She gave kisses by the dozen, greeted us with wiggly joy every time we walked through the door, and filled our days with a love so big, so boundless, it still echoes in our hearts.
From the very first moment we met her, Petunia smothered us in kisses—her way of saying, I’m safe now. What amazed us most was her capacity for love, despite the unthinkable past she had endured. She was rescued in Puerto Rico by an extraordinary woman named Nilsa, founder of Love of All Dogs. Petunia had been used for breeding, hidden under a house, tied to a short chain among rubble, broken pipelines, and garbage. Her neck bore the painful marks of that chain. She was malnourished, and needed surgery to remove a mammary tumor—but her spirit never broke.
When she was strong enough, Petunia took her freedom flight to New York, where she was welcomed by New York Bully Crew and placed into foster care with the incredibly kind and loving @adoptabullpup.
Petunia’s rescue wasn’t the work of one—it was a chorus of kindness, a community of hearts coming together to save one beautiful soul. There are no words big enough to thank everyone who played a part in bringing her into our lives. But we want to try.
