Petunia underwent several surgeries throughout her life, including TPLO surgery, the removal of masses from her leg and near her tail, and multiple mastectomies. One of these was a radical mastectomy, which involved the removal of the entire chain of mammary glands on her left side. It was during this procedure that she was diagnosed with a grade 3 mammary carcinoma. Petunia began chemotherapy treatments shortly afterward, and we were told she might have only six months to a year left. Incredibly, we were blessed with a little over two more precious years with her following that diagnosis.
